Baseball Recap: Pickens' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Pickens had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Greenville H Hurricanes by a score of 5-1 on Thursday.

Brayden Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Ferguson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Ferguson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Pickens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Pickens' victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Greenville H, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pickens will take on Palmetto at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenville H, they will face off against Christ School at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenville H is facing Christ School at the right time seeing as Christ School is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
