Preview: Kit Carson Wildcats vs. Granada Bobcats

Kit Carson is 9-1 against Granada since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Kit Carson Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Granada Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Saturday, Kit Carson beat Hi-Plains 51-40.

Kit Carson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Johnson out in front who scored 17 points. Lindsey Mayhan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Even though Granada has not done well against Holly recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Granada simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Holly 53-21 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Granada has posted yet this season.

Granada's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Marissa Valenzuela, who scored eight points along with 16 steals and seven assists, and Mariah Sigala, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sigala has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of ToriLin Riddle, who scored six points along with five rebounds.

Kit Carson pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Granada, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kit Carson have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Granada, though, as they've been averaging only 33.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Kit Carson skirted past Granada 49-46 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will Kit Carson repeat their success, or does Granada have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
