Preview: Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans vs. Palmyra Panthers
The Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Palmyra Panthers at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer and ten for Palmyra.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer struggled with assists on Friday (Johnson-Brock had 21 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer was beaten by Johnson-Brock 78-26. While losing is never fun, Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Johnson-Brock is ranked 24th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brogan Dunlap, who scored 15 points.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Palmyra had to settle for a 53-51 defeat against Pawnee City on Thursday.
Like Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, Palmyra lost despite seeing results from several players. Drew Erhart led the charge by scoring 14 points along with two steals. Erhart hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Gou Kamishita was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Palmyra, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer was taken down by Palmyra 71-27 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer, Zach Fitzpatrick (who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
