Basketball Recap: Wakefield School Fighting Owls vs. Immanuel Christian Warriors
It was a good run, but the Wakefield School Fighting Owls unfortunately witnessed the end of their 13-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Immanuel Christian by a score of 24-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wakefield School has scored all season.
Wakefield School's loss came despite strong showings from Aya Mason and Ceci Turner. Mason scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, while Turner scored three points along with seven steals and five assists. Mason is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Wakefield School's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-1. As for Immanuel Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakefield School will challenge the Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Immanuel Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Gryphons at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Christian's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
