Basketball Recap: Tremont Takes a Loss

Tremont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Smithville Seminoles, falling 69-38. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-42 back in November of 2024.

Tremont's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Platt, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals. Andrew Curtis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Tremont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-21. As for Smithville, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14.

Tremont won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mantachie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Smithville, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Hatley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Considering Smithville has lost three straight at home and Hatley four straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
