Baseball Recap: Radford Bobcats vs. Glenvar Highlanders
Radford extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-12. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glenvar Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 back in April.
As for Glenvar, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
For Glenvar's part, not much got past Cale Vaughan, who gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Radford off the board. Vaughan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jake Franklin was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Osburn, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Radford will challenge rival Carroll County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Glenvar is set to take on their familiar foe Patrick County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
