Football Preview: Reed Raiders vs. Reno Huskies

After two games on the road, Reed is heading back home. They will host the Reno Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Reed will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.

Reed is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over McQueen. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 31 points or more this season.

Reed's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nishaan Bajwa, who threw for 100 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards. Mitchell Bertolino was in the mix as well, providing Reed with two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Reed was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 329 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Reed wouldn't let McQueen keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Reed can thank Caleb Pitcher and Oscar Casarez for forcing both of them.

Meanwhile, Reno faced Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Reno fell 20-13 to Douglas. That makes it the first time this season the Huskies have let down their home crowd.

Despite their loss, Reno saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dawson Planeta, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. With that strong performance, Planeta is now averaging an impressive 105 receiving yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Wilson, who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns.

Reed's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Reno, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
