Basketball Recap: Brighton Takes a Loss

Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs, falling 53-33. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 483rd, while the Monarchs are ranked 61st).

Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Our Lady of Mercy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brighton will challenge Rush-Henrietta at 7:15 p.m. on February 4th. As for Our Lady of Mercy, they will head out to challenge Pittsford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pittsford is on a four-game streak of home wins, Our Lady of Mercy a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
