Softball Recap: Ludlowe Falcons vs. St. Joseph Cadets
Ludlowe had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it five. They lost 15-1 to the St. Joseph Cadets. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Falcons, who until this matchup were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.
Ludlowe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Santa Barbara, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
As for St. Joseph, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On St. Joseph's side, Katie Dzialo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dzialo has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Kelsey Flanagan was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. McKenna Stratton was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
