Football Recap: C.A. Johnson Comes Up Short at Home Against Columbia

C.A. Johnson unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 22-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbia Capitals on Friday. The Hornets were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why C.A. Johnson lost, don't look at Jeremiah Knightner. Despite the final result, he rushed for 54 yards and one score on only six carries.

C.A. Johnson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jaiden Keitt and Elijah Harper. Harper got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

C.A. Johnson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 44-18 win against Branchville on the 29th. As for Columbia, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-10 loss against Pelion on the 29th.
