Basketball Game Preview: Louisville Lions vs. Fort Calhoun Pioneers

The Louisville Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Fort Calhoun Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Louisville didn't have quite enough to beat Mercy and fell 36-34. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fort Calhoun, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They snuck past Wisner-Pilger with a 44-40 win on Saturday. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Gators are ranked 157th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory snapped Fort Calhoun's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-3 record. As for Louisville, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Louisville was taken down by Fort Calhoun 47-16 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Louisville was down 33-4.
