Basketball Game Preview: Atlantic Eagles vs. Coconut Creek Cougars

The Atlantic Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Coconut Creek Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Atlantic and seven for Coconut Creek.

Atlantic saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost 93-73 to Central. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Rockets are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, Coconut Creek came up short against Braddock on Saturday and fell 63-54.

Atlantic will have to keep a close watch on Nash Youte and Ijah Chin, a pair of players who had a big impact on Coconut Creek's prior game. Youte went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points along with five boards and three steals, while Chin posted six points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Chin a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Warren Noel, who had five points and five assists.

Atlantic now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Coconut Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Atlantic against Coconut Creek in their previous matchup back in February, as the team secured a 70-26 win. Does Atlantic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coconut Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
