Baseball Recap: Valley Catholic Gets the Win

While Valley Catholic's win against Catlin Gabel wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Valiants narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 5-3. The Valiants haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Elliot Bielefeld made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Miller, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Valley Catholic is 3-1 when Miller posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-13-1 otherwise. Will Erickson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Valley Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 10-14-1. As for Catlin Gabel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
