Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laney). Their defense stepped up to hand the West Brunswick Trojans a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. Lucy Lauber was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Laney has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight contests. As for West Brunswick, they dropped their record down to 4-8-1 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laney will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Hoggard at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. Hoggard will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Laney surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Brunswick, they will take on Newton-Conover at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
