It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southern had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Mountain Ridge Miners by a score of 53-42. Winning may never get old, but the Rams sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Southern found their leader in sophomore Jayden Weaver, who shot 58% from the field on her way to 22 points. Weaver is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emelee Parks, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and six assists.
Southern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Southern pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.5 points. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
As of now, neither Southern nor Mountain Ridge have any future games scheduled.
