Volleyball Recap: San Jacinto Triumphs

San Jacinto's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cathedral City Lions 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in February.

San Jacinto took Cathedral City into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, 24-26, 15-13.

San Jacinto found their leader in sophomore Joseph Gordon, who had 23 digs and two assists. Those 23 digs set a new season-high mark for Gordon. Jo Jo Camargo was another key player, getting 16 digs and two assists.

San Jacinto was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 39 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

San Jacinto's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Cathedral City, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-8 record.

Looking ahead, San Jacinto will face off against Ventura at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cathedral City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
