Football Recap: Oasis Sharks vs. Gateway Charter Griffins
Oasis won the last time they faced Gateway Charter, and things went their way on Thursday too. The Oasis Sharks put the hurt on the Gateway Charter Griffins with a sharp 40-15 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sharks.
Oasis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Smith out in front who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a rushing score. Frederick Harley Jr. helped Smith out on the ground, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Oasis wouldn't let Gateway Charter keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Oasis can thank Gavin Wittmer and Mason Sargis for forcing both of them. Sargis also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble and making six total tackles.
Oasis' victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Gateway Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
Oasis will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Petersburg Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on September 6th. As for Gateway Charter, they will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against LaBelle at 7:00 p.m.
