Baseball Game Preview: Heide Trask Titans vs. South Columbus Stallions

The Heide Trask Titans will face off against the South Columbus Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heide Trask has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Heide Trask and East Bladen meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Titans took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.

Trey Cheatham made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kasem Scarlett, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, South Columbus had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vikings a 4-0 shutout.

South Columbus' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Heide Trask, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Heide Trask couldn't quite get it done against South Columbus when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
