Preview: Lincoln Southeast Knights vs. Papillion-LaVista Monarchs

Lincoln Southeast is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Papillion-LaVista is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The two teams will face off at 5:15 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Lincoln Southeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.

Lincoln Southeast suffered their closest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Kearney by a score of 51-48.

Loss or not, Lincoln Southeast got some senior leadership from Jake Hilkemann and Taye Moore. Hilkemann scored 14 points along with eight rebounds, while Moore. scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Deng Giet, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, even though Papillion-LaVista South scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Papillion-LaVista still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Papillion-LaVista made off with a 60-59 victory over Papillion-LaVista South.

Papillion-LaVista found their leader in underclassman Demarcus Mccarty, who scored 24 points. Mccarty is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Kale Johnson was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.

Lincoln Southeast's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Papillion-LaVista, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Lincoln Southeast suffered a grim 64-41 defeat to Papillion-LaVista in their previous meeting back in January of 2020. Can Lincoln Southeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
