Softball Recap: Deering Comes Up Short

Deering extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They came up short against the Thornton Academy Trojans, falling 18-7. If the Rams were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Trojans when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Thornton Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

For Thornton Academy's part, Emma Barnes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Bogardus, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Deering is set to challenge their familiar foe Scarborough at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Thornton Academy will take on rival Massabesic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
