Central is still undefeated this season after their contest against Jonesboro on Thursday, but Jonesboro came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 24-21. Those 24 points were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JR Harris, who threw for 173 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 79 yards on only ten carries. The Lions also relied on Harris, who's 48-yard boot wound up being the difference in the game. Another rusher making a difference was Jacez Walton, who gained 79 total yards and two touchdowns.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Jonesboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Central will look to defend their home field on October 3 against Starr's Mill at 7:30 p.m. As for Jonesboro, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mundy's Mill at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
