Basketball Game Preview: Hanover Hawks vs. Matoaca Warriors

The Hanover Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Matoaca Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Hanover took their match with ease, bagging a 70-35 win over Patrick Henry. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Patriots are ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Matoaca). They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Dinwiddie 63-32.

Matoaca now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Hanover, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Hanover took their win against Matoaca in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 57-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hanover since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
