Basketball Recap: Seymour Indians vs. Waltonville Spartans
On Saturday, Seymour narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spartans 49-47.
Waltonville's loss came despite strong showings from Gage Peterson and Kyle Cooper. Peterson dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Cooper scored 22 points along with seven rebounds. Peterson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Seth Karnes, who scored five points along with three steals.
Seymour is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-16 record this season. As for Waltonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Waltonville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Sesser-Valier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Spartans are ranked 247th).
