Baseball Recap: Kellis Cougars vs. Ironwood Eagles

Kellis extended their losing streak to 13 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They came up short against the Ironwood Eagles, falling 12-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 back in March.

Kellis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnny Celaya, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Diego Banda also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

As for Ironwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

On Ironwood's side, Lane Stilwell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Stilwell has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
