MaxPreps Sac-Joaquin Section Top 25 Football Rankings

There were no changes in the top six, but expect some movement in the Top 10 after this week with some head-to-head competition, including top-ranked Folsom playing at No. 7 Del Oro, No. 3 Grant competing at No. 2 Elk Grove and No. 4 Rocklin hosting No. 5 Oak Ridge.

Also of note, No. 9 St. Mary's plays No. 13 Buhach Colony and No. 10 Central Catholic takes on No. 16 Sierra as league races heat up in a hurry.

1. Folsom (last week: 1) 5-0
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat previous No. 7 Granite Bay 63-0 as Jake Browning passed for 311 yards and five touchdowns, four to Josiah Deguara, who also provided strong blocking. The defense again held inside the 20s.
Next: at No. 7 Del Oro, Friday.

2. Elk Grove (2) 4-0
League: Delta
Result: Beat Davis 56-13 as Spencer Sheff ran for three touchdowns, Tyler Vander Waal passed for 141 yards and a score and Eltoro Allen, Manny Scott-Anderson and Sai Ta'amu each scored.

3. Grant (Sacramento) (3) 4-0
League: Delta
Result: Beat previous No. 11 Franklin 43-14 as Deshawn Collins rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown and Donovan Brown passed for four touchdowns, three to Ariyon Huff.

4. Rocklin (4) 4-0
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Idle

5. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills) (5) 4-1
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Woodcreek (Roseville) 38-20 as Stephen Douglas ran for three touchdowns and Andrew Lackowski rushed for 149 and a score in bouncing back from a 26-14 loss to Reed (Sparks, Nev.). Earlier win was 24-23 over No. 6 Vacaville.

6. Vacaville (6) 3-1
League: Monticello Empire
Result: Beat Lincoln (Stockton) 40-10 as Chad Hekking passed for two touchdowns and ran for one and Mykal Walker scored twice in rushing for 125 yards. The loss was 24-23 at No. 5 Oak Ridge.

7. Del Oro (Loomis) (8) 2-3
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Beat Nevada Union (Grass Valley) on the road as Logan Hurst passed for 202 yards and four touchdowns, hitting Trey Udoffia for two of those, brother Mason Hurst for one and Dalton Gee for a 63-yard scoring strike. The losses were to out-of-section powers De La Salle, Hawaii's Kamehameha and San Diego No. 1 Helix (La Mesa). A win includes state-ranked Vista Murrieta.

8. Jesuit (Carmichael) (9) 3-1
League: Delta
Result: Beat Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove) as Beau Bisharat ran for three touchdowns, including the game winner, and Cole Brownholtz set up scores with deep strikes to Isaiah Bailey.

9. St. Mary's (Stockton) (10) 3-1
League: Tri-City
Result: Beat NorCal-ranked Los Gatos 35-32 as the Rams held on the 1-yard line as time ran out. Marcell Spady scored for a 35-25 lead after trailing 10-0. The loss was at St. Ignatius (San Francisco) 27-24 in double overtime on a field goal after missing one from 35 yards out on the final play of regulation. An earlier win was over No. 11 Central Catholic on a late play.

10. Central Catholic (Modesto) (16) 3-1
League: Valley Oak
Result: Beat previous No. 14 Manteca 29-28 on a late Justin Rice 2-point conversion for the Raiders' first Valley Oak League victory since the 1970s (Central Catholic was realigned to the VOL this season after winning back-to-back CIF state small-school titles). Rice rushed for 129 yards and accounted for all four touchdowns. The loss was to No. 10 St. Mary's in the Holy Bowl on a late play.

11. Oakdale (11) 4-0
League: Valley Oak
Result: Beat East Union (Manteca) 49-13 to continue hot start behind the wing-T under veteran coach Trent Merzon.

12. Merced (16) 3-2
League: Central California
Result: Beat Clovis North (Fresno) 32-25 as Jabar Byrd returned a kickoff 95 yards to open the game and Jamar Turner returned on 96 yards to the 2. Byrd had 110 yards and two touchdowns.

13. Buhach Colony (Atwater) (18) 3-1
League: Central California
Result: Idle. The loss was to Central Section power Clovis North (Fresno) 36-35.

14. Monterey Trail (Elk Grove) (19) 4-0
League: Delta
Result: Beat Sheldon (Sacramento) 42-0 as Trey Nahhas rushed for three touchdowns and Jermaine Bell returned an interception 60 yards for a score. Earlier win was 29-27 over No. 21 Inderkum.

15. Manteca (13) 3-1
League: Valley Oak
Result: Lost heart-breaker late to No. 11 Central Catholic on a 2-point conversion run.

League: Valley Oak
Result: The Modesto Bee No. 1 team beat Kimball (Tracy) 55-20 as Mark Paule Jr. rushed for 253 yards and six touchdowns and Devin Nunez hit Hunter Johnson for two TD passes.

17. Inderkum (Sacramento) (21) 3-1
League: Tri-County
Result: Beat Yuba City 35-19 as Larry Hardy caught two touchdowns from Jonathan Henry and scored on runs of 70 and 49 yards. The loss was 29-27 to No. 20 Monterey Trail when Hardy did not play.

18. Granite Bay (7) 2-2
League: Sierra Foothill
Result: Lost to No. 1 Folsom 63-0 a week after falling to No. 6 Vacaville 13-7, defeats that coach Ernie Cooper said can only serve to inspire his storied program.

19. Franklin (Elk Grove) (10) 2-2
League: Delta
Result: Lost to No. 3 Grant 43-14 after it was 20-14 despite another strong game from WR Brandon Johnson. The loss was to NorCal-ranked Bellarmine (San Jose).

20. Sacramento (22) 3-1
League: Metropolitan
Result: Beat Kennedy (Sacramento) as Caden Voges accounted for six touchdowns and Lonny Powell had his second four-sack game. The loss was to No. 4 Rocklin 47-6.

League: Modesto Metro
Result: Beat Johansen (Modesto) as Nathan Phillips passed for 243 yards and four touchdowns, and he rushed for 103 yards.
