Volleyball Recap: Lapeer Comes Up Short

If Lapeer was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Saginaw on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lightning came up short against the Davison Cardinals on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Lightning haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-17, 25-14.

When it comes to explaining why Lapeer lost, don't look at Allison Rutledge. Despite the final result, she had ten assists and four digs.

Davison was led to victory by Daphne Darling and Berklee Stimson. Darling had eight assists and six digs, while Stimson had 21 assists and five digs. The dominant performance also gave Stimson a new career-high in kills (two). Payton Beagle also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Lapeer's loss dropped their record down to 7-14-1. As for Davison, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Lapeer is set to face off against their familiar foe Grand Blanc at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Davison will square off against rival Powers Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
