Cardinal Newman had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Hillcrest Rams by a score of 1-0. The match was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Cardinals couldn't quite close it out.

The win made it two in a row for Hillcrest and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Cardinal Newman will be taking part in a tournament against North Augusta at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hillcrest, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Summerville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
