Interlake won the last time they faced Foster and things went their way on Friday too. The Saints put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 14-7 victory. Considering the Saints have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lizzy Thompsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Tali Estolano and Madeline Knight did most of the damage at the plate: Estolano went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Knight went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Reagan Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Interlake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foster struck out 13 times.
Interlake has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Foster, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Coming up, Interlake will head out to square off against Kentridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Saints' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Foster, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Renton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
