Oceanside got themselves on the board against El Camino on Thursday, but El Camino never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 22-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Wildcats are ranked 151st).

Oceanside found their leader in sophomore SJ Poumele, who rushed for 96 yards and two scores on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Neke Letuli, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Oceanside didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited El Camino to a completion percentage of just 40%. The team can thank Levi Fesili for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Oceanside; they were averaging 58.3%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 58.3%.

Oceanside's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Ezaya Tokio was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Oceanside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.7 points over those games. As for El Camino, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Oceanside will square off against Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least 31 points in their last seven games. El Camino does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
