Softball Preview: Danvers Falcons vs. Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners        
        
		
            Danvers hasn't had much luck against Peabody Veterans Memorial recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Falcons will face off against the Tanners at 10:00  a.m. Danvers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4  runs per game  this season.
Danvers made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marblehead, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons fell just short of the Magicians by a score of  2-0 on Wednesday. The  contest marked the first time this season in which the Falcons were not able to get on the board.

 Skylar Coakley spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for  her.
 At the plate, Danvers saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Kyla Moroney, who  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base.
Meanwhile, Peabody Veterans Memorial lost  13-5 to Beverly on Wednesday. The Tanners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Lizzy Bettencourt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  got on base  in all four of her plate appearances with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs.  Taylor King was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
 Danvers suffered their first home  defeat, dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, they now  have a losing record of 4-5.
Friday's   game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Danvers hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Peabody Veterans Memorial struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Danvers beat Peabody Veterans Memorial 9-6  when the teams last played  on April 2nd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
