Preview: Atholton Raiders vs. Long Reach Lightning

The Atholton Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Long Reach Lightning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Atholton is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.

You can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Atholton's strategy against Wilde Lake on Monday. Atholton walked away with a 66-59 win over Wilde Lake. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Atholton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deion Dent, who scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. Bryce Inabinet was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of 16 wins, Long Reach's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell 74-66 to River Hill. Long Reach has not had much luck with River Hill recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Atholton is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Long Reach, their defeat ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 19-2.

Atholton came up short against Long Reach in their previous matchup back in January, falling 64-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Long Reach's Jayden Saunders, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Now that Atholton knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
