Basketball Recap: Sophia Scranton Key Part of a Team Effort in Demons Win

Ridgway posted their closest victory since February 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Dolores Bears out 32-29. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Demons.

Ridgway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophia Scranton, who posted seven points along with 13 rebounds and seven steals. Scranton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Miller, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Dolores' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Willden, who earned eight points. The dominant performance also gave Willden a new career-high in steals (two). Taylor Erautt was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Ridgway's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Dolores, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Ridgway has already played their next matchup (against Ouray), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Dolores will take on Telluride at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Dolores is facing Telluride at the right time seeing as Telluride is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
