Softball Game Preview: Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers vs. St. Louis Catholic Saints

The Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers will challenge the St. Louis Catholic Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Lake Charles College Prep has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while St. Louis Catholic will arrive with three straight wins.

Lake Charles College Prep lost 22-1 to Jennings on Monday.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between St. Louis Catholic and Westlake, and St. Louis Catholic kept the tradition alive. St. Louis Catholic's pitcher stepped up to hand Westlake an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Saints have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aila Brassier was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ellie Gage was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

St. Louis Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

St. Louis Catholic pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Charles College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Lake Charles College Prep's way against St. Louis Catholic in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Lake Charles College Prep made off with a 35-24 victory.
