Baseball Game Preview: Capuchino Mustangs vs. Menlo-Atherton Bears

For the second straight game, Capuchino will face off against Menlo-Atherton. The Mustangs will host the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Capuchino hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Wednesday, Capuchino came up short against Menlo-Atherton and fell 6-2.

For Menlo-Atherton's part, Tyler Rosenthal looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rosenthal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jimmy Zaharias and Masataka Shudo did most of the damage at the plate: Zaharias scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Shudo scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryder Kelly, who scored a run.

Menlo-Atherton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.

Menlo-Atherton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Capuchino, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
