The George Washington Patriots will challenge the Vista PEAK Prep Bison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
George Washington took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Hinkley get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Matt Holliger was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Watada, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
George Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Vista PEAK Prep made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rangeview on Tuesday. The Bison were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Raiders.
Eli Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Vista PEAK Prep is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. Garcia was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Karter Robertson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Brody Brancato was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
The victory got George Washington back to even at 7-7. As for Vista PEAK Prep, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. George Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Vista PEAK Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
George Washington couldn't quite get it done against Vista PEAK Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
