Volleyball Recap: Somerset Sky Pointe Eagles vs. Green Valley Gators
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Somerset Sky Pointe had no problem doing just that on Monday. Everything went their way against the Green Valley Gators as they made off with a 3-0 victory. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.
One reason for the win was Somerset Sky Pointe's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19, 25-14.
Despite the defeat, Green Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Varner had 11 digs. Varner has been hot , having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played.
Somerset Sky Pointe has been performing well recently as they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. As for Green Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-18.
Somerset Sky Pointe will face off against Rancho at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Somerset Sky Pointe is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Green Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
