Softball Recap: Dallastown Wildcats vs. Hempfield Black Knights
Dallastown lost a heartbreaker to Hempfield when they met back in May of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. The Dallastown Wildcats wound up on the wrong side of a rough 13-2 walloping at the hands of the Hempfield Black Knights. Dallastown has not had much luck with Hempfield recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Dallastown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Altland, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
On Hempfield's side, Avery Landis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emma McPherson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Dallastown has fallen quite a ways from their 16-6 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for Hempfield, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dallastown is on the road again on Monday to play William Penn at 4:15 p.m. As for Hempfield, they will square off against Penn Manor at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Hempfield's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Penn Manor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
