Basketball Recap: Traders Point Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Kam Reese and Jakson Jones

Traders Point Christian was the 42-39 winner over Indiana Math & Science Academy North when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Traders Point Christian took a 73-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indiana Math & Science Academy North. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (61), Traders Point Christian still had to take the loss.

Traders Point Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jakson Jones, who posted 26 points, and Kam Reese, who went 8-for-14 en route to 23 points and five steals. Those 23 points gave Reese a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Dafler, who earned ten points.

Indiana Math & Science Academy North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xzavion Collins led the charge by putting up 16 points and six boards. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 100% in the last three games he's played. Spencer Turner was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Traders Point Christian and nudges their season record down to 6-12. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Indiana Math & Science Academy North, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.

Traders Point Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 72-52 defeat against KIPP Legacy on the 14th. As for Indiana Math & Science Academy North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-34 loss against Tindley on the 8th.
