Softball Recap: Brown County Eagles vs. South Putnam Eagles

Brown County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 10-4 to the South Putnam Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brown County of the 7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Ava Stogsdill was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

On South Putnam's side, Braylin Boruff was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Boruff has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Boruff was also big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs, a triple, and a double.

In other batting news, Danae Cline was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Adrie Burge, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Brown County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for South Putnam, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brown County will challenge Southwestern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Putnam, they will head out on the road to face off against Owen Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams will come into the contest having just posted big wins, so someone is set to suffer a big change in fortunes.
