Football Recap: Highland Park Beats Red Oak for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Highland Park came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 52-35 win over the Red Oak Hawks. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Hawks are ranked 94th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Buck Randall threw for 404 yards and six TDs while completing 84% of his passes. Matthew White was his top target, picking up 153 receiving yards and three scores.

Despite the loss, Red Oak still got an impressive performance from Billy Middleton, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 153 yards and one TD. Daylan Johnson was another key player, rushing for 93 yards and one score on only 12 carries.

Highland Park's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Red Oak, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3.

Coincidentally, Highland Park and Red Oak will both be playing Joshua the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Scots will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
