Flag Football Recap: Sydney Matthews and Paige Fink Pace Chaparral Defense + How To Watch

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Chaparral couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 26-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Legend Titans on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on October 6th.

Although Chaparral took the loss, they still got scores from Ellen Mendelsohn and Sutton Persichina.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Chloe Petrillo for the heroic effort on defense: she. Chaparral is 2-1 when they shut down the run game so well.

Chaparral didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sydney Matthews and Paige Fink. Another thorn in Legend's side was Petrillo, who made 13 total tackles.

The defeat snapped Chaparral's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-4 record. As for Legend, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Chaparral does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Legend, they will square off against Mountain Vista at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Titans 10.4, the Golden Eagles 6.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
