Basketball Recap: Ellen Adair's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Briarcrest Christian over Hutchison

Briarcrest Christian lost against Hutchison back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the Briarcrest Christian Saints and the Hutchison Sting didn't end well, with the Briarcrest Christian Saints falling 57-42. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Sting are ranked 33rd).

Briarcrest Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellen Adair, who posted 12 points and seven boards. That's the most points Adair has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendall Jones, who scored 11 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Briarcrest Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Briarcrest Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Hutchison, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-6.

Coming up, Briarcrest Christian will square off against St. Benedict at Auburndale at 6:00 p.m. on February 21st. As for Hutchison, they will take on St. Agnes Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
