Baseball Game Preview: Bethlehem Center Bulldogs vs. California Trojans

For the second straight game, Bethlehem Center will face off against California. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Bethlehem Center managed to slip by California the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs lost 14-4 to the Trojans on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For California's part, Ricky Lawson and Caden Monticelli made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lawson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Monticelli didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Lawson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because California is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3-1 otherwise. At bat, Lawson scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Monticelli scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, California got a big performance out of Kaden Weston, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Weston has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Chase Cicchitto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for California and bumps their season record up to 2-4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Bethlehem Center, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
