Football Game Preview: Calexico Bulldogs vs. Vincent Memorial Scots

The Calexico Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Vincent Memorial Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calexico is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Calexico is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Holtville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Vikings 58-14. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Vikings are ranked 150th).

Although Calexico took the loss, they still got scores from Alberto Castro and Andre Lopez.

Meanwhile, while Vincent Memorial put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Calipatria. The Scots took their game with ease, bagging a 38-0 victory over the Hornets. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for the Scots this season.

Vincent Memorial's win came from a few key players Calexico will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Patricio Carranza, who threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emiliano Sanchez, who gained 119 total yards and a touchdown.

Vincent Memorial's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Juan Pablo Rivero with two sacks.

The win made it two in a row for Vincent Memorial and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Calexico, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Calexico strolled past Vincent Memorial in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 14-0. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
