Baseball Recap: LaPoynor Find Success

After only one run in their last match, LaPoynor made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oakwood on Saturday. Everything went the LaPoynor Flyers' way against the Oakwood Panthers as the LaPoynor Flyers made off with a 12-1 victory.

Kaden McKinley made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalvin Harris, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Colt Rogers was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

LaPoynor's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Oakwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 1-2.

LaPoynor didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-2 victory against Cumberland Academy on the 22nd. As for Oakwood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Covington at 4:30 p.m.
