Palm Springs (Calif.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Christopher Hessler ran for a touchdown with under a minute left, bringing the team to victory over
La Quinta (Calif.) 20-14.
The score was knotted at zero heading into the half. The Indians took the lead for good on a Hessler touchdown run in the fifth quarter.
Kenyon Williams played well for the Blackhawks. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.
Hessler played well for Palm Springs in the victory. He ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
PS had given up an average of 13.0 points prior to the contest.
The Indians also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 35-6.
The defeat comes as a step back for La Quinta, which notched a 52-0 victory over Coachella Valley in its previous outing. With the win Palm Springs extended its winning streak to three games. The loss snapped La Quinta's 2-game winning streak.
In a Desert Valley game next week Palm Springs (6-2) takes on Indio, and La Quinta (2-7) will go up against Cathedral City also in a Desert Valley game.
