League recap: Neill races to league-leading run for Liberty

Zach Neill of Liberty ran for the longest rushing play in II Section III this season against Kellis last week. Neill ran for 83 yards on the play and finished with 97 on the day as his team topped the Cougars.

Centennial added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Deer Valley, 34-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Coyotes.

Dedrick Young was a force in the backfield as Centennial bested the Skyhawks.

Young was a passing and rushing force as Richard Taylor's team topped Deer Valley. Young's key target this week was Keesean Green, who caught 3 passes for 34 yards.

Austin Chatwood was a key player and the best on defense this week as Ironwood beat Willow Canyon. The 5-foot-11 sophomore recorded 2 fumbles.

Tyler Wyatt threw for 136 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Young was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 296 yards on 34 carries as the Coyotes topped Kellis. Teammate Quentin Gomez added to the ground attack by rushing for 97 yards.

Leading II Section III in both passing and receiving yards, Danny Filleman's team's Wyatt and Bennett have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Wyatt has thrown for 1,399 yards this season, while Bennett has 26 catches for 554 yards. Centennial's Young leads the league in rushing yards with 1,169.

The Lions' offense has scored 275 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Eric Bolus' team has allowed only 87 on the year.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Liberty and the Skyhawks face off next week.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Deer Valley takes on the Lions. As it stands, the Skyhawks are in second, while Liberty is in third.

The Lions took down Jason Golden's team 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wyatt ran for 50 yards during the win.
