Baseball Recap: Owego Free Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Owego Free Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Chenango Valley Warriors 11-2. The River Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by nine runs or more this season.

Conlan Taylor was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Owego Free Academy got a massive performance out of Evan English, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Dylan Brace, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Owego Free Academy pushed their record up to 5-2-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Chenango Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Owego Free Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
