If Gadsden City beats Mountain Brook with three goals on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Gadsden City had just enough and edged out Fort Payne 3-2 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Mountain Brook faced Briarwood Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Mountain Brook fell just short of Briarwood Christian by a score of 1-0. That makes it the first time this season the Spartans have let down their home crowd.

Gadsden City is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those six contests. Mountain Brook's loss dropped their record down to 9-2-1.

Gadsden City skirted past Mountain Brook 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gadsden City since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
