Volleyball Recap: Chiles Beats Bishop Kenny for Their 33rd Straight Victory

Chiles extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to 33 on Saturday, bumping them up to 11-0. They put the hurt on the Bishop Kenny Crusaders with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Timberwolves also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Chiles can attribute much of their success to Madison Joyner, who had five digs and four aces. Jorja Williams also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Chiles was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 34 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

As for Bishop Kenny, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 8-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since November 7, 2024.

Despite the loss, Bishop Kenny still got an impressive performance from Alexis Sowers, who had 20 digs. Sowers has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Newell, who had eight digs and two aces.

Chiles has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Ponte Vedra on the 13th. As for Bishop Kenny, they will take on Santa Fe at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
